Gaithersburg, MD - Thursday, April 5 - The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce (GGCC) is proud to support and recognize today - Thursday, April 5 -  as the Anniversary of the 1st Chamber of Commerce. The New York Chamber of Commerce was the first chamber of commerce founded in 1768 by twenty New York City merchants.
 
As in 1768, chambers of commerce promote the business interests of merchants. The GGCC’s goal is to help businesses and communities thrive and grow. Our mission is: “To serve, represent, and be the leading advocate for the interests of our membership in ways that enhance the business environment, quality of life, and well-being of our unique communities."
 
A Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit entity made up of local businesses, all of which pay for membership. The GGCC acts as a voice for our members representing their business interests in political and public venues, and is often tasked with the job of attracting businesses, investing time and effort into the vitality of the area. The GGCC is one of the most influential forces in local government and regional economic development. We are a business organization that strengthens, enhances & protects businesses. We provide resources for businesses and individuals. The GGCC fosters business-to-business & business-to-consumer relationships through monthly networking events, special Chamber events, legislative voice and committees throughout the year.
 
The GGCC is active in providing business-to-business networking opportunities throughout the year: a collective voice in local, regional, and state legislative affairs, professional development opportunities and other services that enhance the business environment.
