GGCC “Grow Your Business” Seminar & Expo Held

Gaithersburg, MD – Monday, April 29 – The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber (GGCC) in partnership with Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union’s Small Business University and the Olney Chamber of Commerce hosted its 6th Annual “Grow Your Business” Seminar & Expo on Thursday, April 25 at the Hilton Washington DC North/Gaithersburg,

This year’s seminar featured Joe Porpiglia, President of D&D Consulting and Training, who spoke on “Motivation, Empowerment: Improve Profitability”. Our Keynote Speaker was Martin Mayorga, Owner of Mayorga Coffee who presented “If at First You Don’t Succeed”.

“From the convenient location, the very comfortable room, the luscious breakfast buffet, to the friendly hotel personal very responsive to any participants’ needs, the venue was an excellent set up. And that was just the logistics!” said Pascale Brady, Challenge Coach of Global Life Coaching LLC, with regards to the 6th Annual “Grow Your Business” Seminar & Expo. “I really enjoyed talking with many of the exhibitors. Made some really good contacts for various areas of my business, with many immediate follow ups that I believe will yield mutually successful results. And then there were the presenters. If there had been nothing else but Joe Porpiglia and Martin Mayorga speaking at this event, it would have been worth the cost and time of the meeting! Joe was highly energetic, entertaining, and taught us in an engaging and dynamic way some very solid sales concepts that could otherwise have been very dry and boring to learn. Martin, in a very different style, brought to the audience a very touching, authentic, vivid and oh-so-real business story that was inspiring, hope-making, and with very many excellent practical business lessons that I think a lot of participants must have taken nuggets away from. The cherry on the cake was the fact that, probably unbeknownst to them, the two presentations were a very good match. Martin’s talk was almost like a live demo of many of the concepts that Joe presented during his talk that was quite impressive. All in all, I am coming back next year for sure – and hope that you can if not top this year’s expo – at least match it. It was a very strong event.”

The seminar’s theme was “Dream Big”. During Mayorga’s presentation he emphasized the importance of dreaming big but “managing the details” and said “doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will”. This resonated with the attendees and after both presentations, attendees left energized and motivated for a successful and “big” 2013.

“It is always great to hear from someone who has ‘been there, done that’. Hearing from Martin Mayorga about how he built his business was inspirational and it motivated all of keep working toward our goals,” said Marilyn Balcombe, GGCC Executive Director.

The seminar was sponsored by 270net Technologies, KMF Rothbury, LLC & the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development.
