The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce (GGCC) conducted a “Ribbon Cutting / Grand Opening” Ceremony for Wegmans, located at 20600 Seneca Meadows Parkway in Germantown. The ceremony was conducted on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

“We are so excited about having Wegmans in Germantown. The most common question I get about Germantown is “When is Wegmans opening”, so I know it will be a great success”, said Marilyn Balcombe, GGCC Executive Director.

Wegmans offers more customer convenience services and “stores within a store” than possibly any other supermarket chain. Many of Wegmans’ stores, though not all, have the following:

  • Market Cafés —offering take-out or in-store dining, with seating for 100 to upwards of 500.

“On behalf of our nearly one million residents, I am pleased to welcome Wegmans to Montgomery County,” said County Executive Ike Leggett. “This opening is great news for Montgomery County, and we are proud to have been chosen as the location of one your seven stores in Maryland.

“I salute you for your many accomplishments — the industry innovations you have introduced, the employee-supportive workplace and the consumer-friendly atmosphere

you have created, your environmental stewardship and your tradition of giving back to the communities in which you are located,” Leggett said. “Your presence will enhance our retail sector and the community at large.”

The Wegmans in Germantown is equipped with a restaurant offering entrees, soups, appetizers, gourmet sandwiches and side dishes, a Sushi bar, a sub shop, Coffee Shop, Wokery Buffet and Fresh Food Bar, Seafood and Asian Bars, ready-to-cook entrees in their meat and seafood departments; a bakery; an authentic French pastry shop; a deli & cheese Shop; a pharmacy and so much more.
