Gaithersburg /Germantown, MD (June 9, 2017) – The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce (GGCC) Director of Events & Marketing, Laura Rowles, is the recipient of Montgomery Community Media’s (MCM) first ever EPIC Monty’s Choice Award.

The Monty’s Choice Award is given to “Members Who Best Exemplify MCM’s Mission”.

The first annual EPIC (Excellence in Programming and Innovative Content) Awards ceremony took place on the evening of June 8 at The Fillmore in Silver Spring. The evening was set to recognize the people who keep us informed about our neighborhoods and who help us appreciate the region we call home.

“I am honored to receive the Monty’s Choice award” said Rowles. “And I am very grateful to be your partner in bringing information to people who live and work here in this great county.”

The awards recognize the creators of multimedia content distributed on broadcast or broadband platforms. Rowles writes the “Your Success is Our Business” blog for MCM. She has been contributing to the “local blog” platform on the mymcmedia.org website for four years.

“This award is particularly special to me because in recognizing me and my work, you are also recognizing the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber and its members for the good work they do, the innovative services they provide; and also for their commitment to give back to the community,” Rowles said.

Rowles brings more than 20 years of experience in journalism, marketing, communications and public relations to her role as Director of Events & Marketing at the GGCC. She has been an active member of the Gaithersburg Book Festival Committee since its inception eight years ago and also serves on the advisory board for Montgomery County Public Schools Business Management Finance. She was also on the board of the Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County prior to its merger with Leadership Montgomery. She likes to volunteer her time at Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, Nourish Now and Manna Food Center.

The mission of the EPIC Awards is to strengthen our community of multimedia content creators by inspiring, promoting and recognizing excellence and innovation. Learn more about MCM at www.mymcmedia.org.
